Acne nodules are large pus-filled lesions that are skin deep. This form of acne is also known as cystic acne. This type does not easily respond to the acne medications loaded with anti-bacterial chemicals like benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. These oral medicines prove effective by killing the infection causing bacteria and thus alleviating this form of acne on the skin.  Further chemical peels like alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) peel and glycolic acid peel are known as effective alternates to oral medicines. These peels work by leading the skin to blister and thus peeling off the cysts and nodules present. In case, the acne fails to respond to the above methods, then cortisone injections are injected directly into the affected area for immediate and permanent relief.
