Nuts causing acne

Certain nuts are known to trigger allergic reactions in form of acne. Some of the most recognized allergy causing nuts is peanuts, walnut, cashew nuts, and Pistachio nuts. These nuts are loaded with fats and proteins which are not recognized by the immune system. Hence, this defense system launches antibodies to fight against nutrient content of these nuts. As the immune system triggers the production of antibodies, the sebaceous glands become hyperactive and thus over produce sebum. This excessive sebum gets collected on the skin pores and clogs the hair follicles resulting into the outbreak of acne with days to follow. Further, the trapped sebum in the hair follicles leads to inflammation which appears in the form of small bumps called whiteheads and blackheads. As the severity of the disorder increases, formation of pustules, papules and pimples takes place. According to experts, varied kinds of nuts are heat stable which is indigestible by the digestive system of the humans. This further leads to the emergence of acne on the skin surface. The seriousness of the acne bouts depend on individual to another. In fact, the condition of immune system of the person and its response to the consumed nuts play a major role in the severity of the acne outbreak. Many people may not experience the development of acne despite consuming plenty of dry fruits and nuts, whereas a few people may witness allergic reactions with a mere single kernel.
