Acne medication clindamycin

Serious bacterial infections, especially those caused by anaerobic bacteria, such as acne are treated by means of clindamycin. It works by putting a check on the growth of bacteria, and is therefore considered to be a very effective anti acne medication. Clinical suggestions as to the administration of clindamycin is to take it every six hours, which works out to around four times a day, and use of this medication should be discontinued once the symptoms of infection disappear. When used as a topical treatment for acne, results are usually noticed very quickly. Clindamycin works to reduce inflammation caused due to acne and is therefore very effective against swelling and redness. Positive results are usually seen within a week or two. Topical usage is said to cause mild stinging, but this tends to reduce within a few days of usage. Usage of clindamycin should not be confused with other topical medications that can be availed over the counter. Clindamycin should never be used without medical supervision, and should preferably be used only on those suffering from moderate to severe acne. Side effects usually include red, itchy, dry skin that gets extra sensitive and can be a source of irritation. More serious side effects include colitis, bloody stools and diarrhea.
