Acne breakout after shaving

The breakout of acne after shaving is known as shaving bumps or adult acne. This condition, in medical terms is called Pseudofolliculitis barbae. They appear only when the person shaves or waxes his skin. After the shave, the facial hair attempt to grow back, however, get stuck in the hair follicles. This, sometimes results into unbearable pain on the affected areas. After the shave, every person experiences irritation which causes the shaving bumps to outgrow in form of swelling. These outgrown shaving bumps appear like acne and may be painful at times. Studies have proven that men with curly hair are more susceptible to this skin disorder because the density of the hair completely blocks the contact of the skin with the air. Shave bumps should not be a cause of worry or a reason to be ashamed of. There are numerous ways of preventing the growth of shaving bumps on the skin. This can be attained by using lukewarm water for shaving as it makes the skin soft and hydrated. It is ideal to use a cream that does not produce much lather and thus allows your razor to run smoothly over the skin. Next, choose the razor that suits your skin type. It is important to change the razor after using it once.
