Pimple is a sort of disorder in the pilosebaceous unit, which comprises of sebaceous gland, a hair and a hair follicle. These units are present all over the human body except for four areas, palms, upper side of feet, lower lip and soles. Sebum is a substance whose function is to keep the hair and the skin moisturized. Sebum is produced by sebaceous glands.
Propionibacterium Pimples are bacteria that are found in the human skin. Sebum acts as its nutrient and helps it increase during puberty. The follicles of people with Pimple tend have Propionibacterium Pimples in much larger amounts than those who are not facing any Pimple problem. Their white blood cells are attracted by these bacteria, thereby producing an enzyme which damages the follicle and permits the contents of the follicle to flow in dermis. This causes an inflammation which is often seen in the form of papules, nodules, and pustules.
Ordinary Follicles
Sebum which is excreted by the sebaceous gland mixes with cells that are sloughed off in the hair follicles and blocks these follicles. Since the follicle is blocked, the sebum spreads over the surface of the skin making it appear oily. In normal situations, if this process takes place correctly, then it leaves the skin moisturized and healthy.
