There is some confusion between acne and another skin disease called Roseacea this is something that affects millions of people and usually these will be people over the age of 30. This unlike acne will make the skin on the cheeks; forehead and chin appear red and is often accompanied by pimples, blemishes and bumps. This is what causes confusion to some people that are suffering from rosacea and not from acne.
One of the distinctions between rosacea and acne is that people that have rosacea do not have blackheads; this is one of the symptoms of acne, along with cysts and other types of blemishes. There are also different types of treatment for rosacea than there is for acne and one of the symptoms that can appear is swelling of the nose and other facial tissue. This is a condition called rhinophyma and left untreated can cause permanent damage to the face and nose. |
