Some information about whiteheads

Whiteheads are regarded as a common form of acne located at the surface of the skin. This is a manifestation of a skin disease which can only be properly treated by a physician. Whiteheads are also known closed comedones and appear in form of pus filled bumps on the upper layer of the face and shoulders. It has been observed that more 85 per cent of teenagers as well as adults face this skin problem. Whiteheads generally appear on the oily skin. They form only when the pores on the skin surface fail to drain out all the accumulated oil, also known as sebum. Further, due to the collection of oil, acne also starts appearing on the skin. Since the air cannot pass and reach into the follicle, a white bump forms on the skin. There are numerous treatments available for the removal of this whitehead. However, it is suggested to allow this tiny bump to grow till its capacity before applying any treatments for its removal. Regular application of a face cleanser rich in Benzoyl Peroxide is a popular treatment for the elimination of this pus filled bump. Further, face washes or creams rich in anti-bacterial chemicals like beta hydroxyl acid, or salicylic acid also prove effective at alleviating this skin disorder.
