Pregnancy and body acne |
Most people think that they will not get acne once out of their teen years. But severe acne might attack you during pregnancy. This happens as the estrogen levels rise considerably during pregnancy thus heightening your chances of developing acne. Sometimes it might continue even after pregnancy and should be cured with extreme care as some treatments might harm the fetus. Oral medications should be avoided as these can cause birth defects. These include salicylic acid, tretinoin, isotretinoin, tetracycline and its synthetic derivatives like doxycycline. It is best to consult your doctor to choose the kind of treatment you require. Natural treatments like lavender oil and other natural home remedies are preferable. Try to control your pimples by drinking a lot of fluids throughout the day. This will keep your body as well as your skin moist. Avoid touching, picking and popping your pimples as this might lead to the spread of pimple causing bacteria to the nearby skin areas and hence making acne even more adverse. Do not use skin irritating soaps and oils which might further aggravate the situation. Natural skin products are advisable over chemical treatments as they have fewer side effects. Always check with your doctor first. |
