Retin A and Vitamin A Can it be Dangerous? |
Retin A is one of the popular retinoid topical treatments for acne that dermatologists could prescribe and these types of creams have vitamin A properties. There is no reason if prescribed this type of acne treatment to stop taking vitamin A supplements. The danger of creating a toxic level of vitamin A cannot occur do to the use of one of these topical creams and taking vitamin A supplements, it can become toxic in the body when there are high dosages of the supplement are taken. Caution should be taken with the use of retinoid medications as these can cause blisters, peeling of the skin and dry scaly skin when used more than directed. This can cause more problems to already troubled skin, but will work properly to clear the skin of acne when used as directed, without any ill effects to the skin other than a possible redness.
