Baby acne can be present at birth, but it develops at 3 to 4 weeks of age and it remains for six months and vanish.
The symptoms of baby acne include:
- Small, fleshy or red pimples take place mostly on the cheeks, and sometimes it also occurs on the forehead and chin. Sometimes whiteheads are also present.
- Usually infants has two types of acne, they are:
- Papule: this type of acne is very common. Papules are small, fleshy and red swelling developed from the skin surface which appears similar to red pimples.
- Pustule or whitehead: it is s small elevation on the skin which contains cloudy substances or purulent stuff.
- Baby acne will touch the peak and turn very reddish or bloody when the baby's skin experience increased flow of blood.
- If the baby gets irritated or hot or fussy, the baby acne becomes worse.
- Excessive scrubbing or saliva or spit-up and split milk can worse the condition of baby acne and remain for few weeks.
- Sometimes, certain medications may trigger the symptoms of acne in babies.
All the above symptoms usually happen in all babies having acne. However, baby acne is painless and disappears after few months without causing any scars on the baby’s skin.
